That was the big question for today’s sunrise (above). With a short break in the current unsettled spell of weather (snow expected Sunday!) and a nice blanket of fog settling in, I had a hard time deciding where to go for the most interesting landscape images.
The possibilities seemed endless everywhere!
So, unfortunately, I did just that. I went everywhere…Legion Park, Marshall Mesa, Sawhill Ponds, Lookout Road. And, in the end, the morning turned out less than successful due to all the frantic running fro and to…and despite the wonderful, slow moving, fog wreaths and the subtle, changing light that was beckoning from all sides.
MY BIG LESSON: Pick a place and go there. Don’t let your mind trick you into thinking it might be better elsewhere. Just stick to your decision. You’ll focus better (so to speak) and your images will likely be better.
As an aside, there is an aviation parallel: In an emergency, make the best decision you can based on the circumstances, then stick to it. A pilot shouldn’t be changing her mind in the midst of the chaos of it all (unless, due to new information, it becomes blatantly obvious that the initial decision must be altered.)
So, naturally, today’s best image turned out not to be a landscape at all:
