The forecast says rain this weekend, so here are some thoughts…
A light rain can add some cute water droplets, thus added interest, to your images (flowers, especially, although I haven’t posted an example). As a bonus, the overcast that usually accompanies a rain acts like a giant filter to even out the lighting and reduce contrast between shadows and highlights. Carry a plastic bag to keep your camera dry as you walk–and check the lens frequently for unwanted droplets or condensation.
Sunny day and no rain? Then just carry a spray bottle and squeeze off some mist over the object of your desire, wait a bit for the droplets to consolidate into something realistic, than photograph. Carry an umbrella or translucent reflector to shade your subject and simulate an overcast day.
Some watery textures from last week on the Pearl Street Mall…
You have surely seen this obvious, huge, bronze sculpture if you have ever strolled the Mall:
Getting in really close and moving toward the Rorschach abstract:
Here is one of our Attention Homes photographers in action with a super idea for an original composition of her engagement ring. Note also how she has braced her hand on the edge of the table to reduce camera movement:
Or, you could go full color AND grainy apocalypse-blister-lava flow abstract, This is a red table covered with raindrops:
