Today I was out and about before sunrise in single digit temperatures going nutso over the gorgeous Colorado foothills landscape covered by a foot of soft powder snow. The Flatirons were plastered white and wreaths of mist laced around the rocks…Eldorado Canyon’s multi-colored sandstone cliffs were similarly decorated and, in addition, sported long rows of dragon’s teeth icicles from nearly every overhanging ledge.
I’ll post a few of those images over the next few days as I get them processed.
The point of this brief commentary, though, is this:
As you oooohhh and ahhhhh over the incredible panoramic landscape spread out before your teary, unbelieving eyes don’t forget that the mundane and boring can also yield an unusual photograph. So, when pondering a spectacular scene with camera and tripod set up and aimed at the obvious, don’t forget to turn around…look around…study all angles…up…down…and around again…You never know what you might see.
Thus the above image of the wheel hub of my truck, encrusted with mud and ice. Behind me is the spectacular view of the Flatirons covered in fresh snow.
