“Seeing”. That’s what it is really all about. Seeing the light…seeing the unusual in the quotidian…seeing a unique pattern in the confusion of a constant barrage of every day visual stimuli. Anyone can aim and press the shutter–that’s called “taking a picture.” “Creating” an image is something else again. It requires seeing things in a new and unusual way. That is VERY hard to do, as I am constantly discovering.
Everyone has a different way of viewing the world and that unique viewpoint is what you should develop as you become more advanced with your photography. And that is exactly what I am trying to do…How do I see the world that is different than how others see it? What things do I notice that others do not? What is my eye naturally attracted to if I let it seek on its own? What subjects am I passionate about? THAT is where I should focus my photography. Eventually, a personal style based on my unique way of seeing will naturally emerge.
That is my journey. May yours also be filled with miracles.
