The temperature gauge at zero-dark-thirty this morning said six degrees down in Boulder, but 18 degrees up on Sugarloaf. The inversion creates some interesting effects (post-industrial apocalypse?) for photography as the vapor plumes spread out around the flatlands.
The summit on the left edge is Green Mountain, with Bear Peak on the far right. The strange mushroom cloud is formed by the excretions–into the frigid winter air mass–of the various plants and refineries in Denver’s industrial district:
