Here is another great local art event you probably don’t want to miss as autumn rolls on…
What: A special evening gala for The Beauty and Mystery of Vietnam, Ning’s beautiful and moving photography exhibit. And…a very special guest from National Geographic will also be on hand to speak!
When: Friday, November 11, 6-9p.m. This is also “Second Friday” in Longmont, so there will be lots of activity, music, food, etc. along Main Street. The photography exhibit itself runs through November 30, 2016.
Where: The Darkroom Gallery, 515 Main Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501 (next to the theater).
Who: Ning Mosberger-Tang is the talented photographer whose work will be on exhibit and she will be there to entertain your questions. The National Geographic photographer and guest speaker will be Catherine Karnow, a Vietnam expert.
I have seen the exhibit (yes, the pictures are already on the walls!) and it is gorgeous–very high quality, well-composed, large and unframed, color prints that quite effectively transport you deep into the beauty and dynamic complexity that is today’s Vietnam. The section on the family with Agent Orange-affected children is especially moving (indeed, a portion of the proceeds from exhibit sales will go to the non-profit group, Children of Vietnam).
