In many places around the world–in the northern hemisphere at least–today is a holiday and folks are dancing around their maypoles, making their May baskets, and electing their May queens, all in celebration of the coming of spring. It is also International Workers’ Day in many countries.
Well, around these parts, instead of dancing around the maypole, we’ll be scraping the snow off of windshields and clearing our sidewalks as yet another spring storm sweeps through the region. For the fourth time in about a month, once the clouds lift a little this afternoon, the Flatirons will look very much like the oft-captured iconic postcard picture above–which I made just after the last spring storm only a week or so ago.
The snowpack numbers are now looking pretty good in Colorado. The drought has temporarily eased. Farmers are happy. You can even still ski at Loveland Ski Area.
Enjoy your May Day!
