What a relief to spend some time in a shady, green, hobbit forest photographing a series of lacy waterfalls and waterslides. What with COVID-19 and Life-In-General, it has been a difficult summer and losing myself in the viewfinder was just what I needed.
And what a difference 90 minutes from the city can make! With high humidity levels and the therm-o-meter in Barcelona topping out at 30 degrees Celius (86 F) or higher, the slopes of the Montseny massif offered a cool refuge at 22 degrees (72 F). If I’m not mistaken, isn’t 72 degrees Farenheit considered the perfect temperature for us 98.6 F human beans and our fleshy vessels?
It had been a long time since I have been able to do some meditative, contemplative landscape photography with my “big” camera and tripod, so it was heart-warming to reconnect with The Universe (as I undertand it)… With Ma Nature… With peace… With bird song… With the smells of ferns, tree bark, and moist rock… With the sounds of running, fumbling, tumbling water…
All of the following photographs are from the Nikon D850… and all were made somewhere near Sante Fe de Montseny.
With Color
For the most part, I think I prefer color for these scenes–even though, on this day, my original intention was to make exclusively monochrome images…
In Monochrome
These are the few I thought worked OK in black and white…
