Two Texans getting married on July 4 at the famous 14th century Santa María del Mar gothic basilica in Barcelona. Impressive. How they managed that bit of international administrative manipulation would likely make a neat story.
The church was open to the tourist public as the young couple walked down the long aisle and exchanged vows below 600+ year-old arches, chockstones and walls.
I’ll try to get an image of the Texan wedding posted shortly, but we are having computer and internet issues…
Their official website is no longer maintained, so I have no specific information on how they came by this unique venue.
As to the church itself, pick up a copy of Cathedral of the Sea by Ildefonso Falcones (a 2006 publication). It is historical fiction, but will give tremendous insight into how this particular structure was built.
