Just a quick tip or idea for the day…Many times, when we photograph, our initial instinct is to include EVERYthing in the shot.
Take the image above, for example. When one sees an old car such as this one by the side of the road, one’s first impulse might be to jump out and use the wide angle to capture everything from bumper to bumper. In this situation, though, I resisted that temptation and put on a telephoto lens instead and just concentrated on the detail–the rust, the interesting curves, lines and angles, and the automobile brand, for context. The color image was also interesting with its somewhat muted tones:
