Lá Fhéile Padraig, that is.
Thirty-seven years ago tonight, I was mopping up green beer vomit in the men’s room at the Denny’s restaurant on Baseline Road, in Boulder. I was a dishwasher/waiter/host there for a few months. I drew the short straw that particular night for mop and bucket duty. Yep, it was certainly one of the more attention-getting moments in my life as a restaurant employee. (I happened to be sick the day we were robbed at gunpoint at that same Denny’s–so I missed that incident.)
If we were to be a bit more intellectual about it, maybe we should pay more attention to celebrating the author, James Joyce, on June 16…Bloomsday. The Irish can write, too, ya know!
But, back to a bit of fun, good ole American, anti-intellectualism…How many of you remember this?
