Thanks to Cameron for putting together a little outing to the Lumpy Ridge area near Estes Park today. There were five of us from 14ers.com who met up at 6a.m. in the trailhead parking lot for a little sunrise photography in the warmish (for winter) but blustery wind up on the granite boulder piles.
There was some impressive experience in the group that you’ll see if you take the time to peruse their websites:

Here are a few of my images from the day:
At least I think that is Stones Peak lighting up with the morning sun…
The Sun, with the Moon standing watch, finally reaches the monolith (duolith?) of the Twin Owls with Gem Peak farther up and to the right…
A full Sol on the Owls’ feathers…
A secluded frozen pond–with no visible source nor drainage–they call “Gem Lake“…
Finally, for fun, I led my burro, Carl, up the trail loaded with all my wet plate collodion supplies–glass plates, chemicals, tent, etc…

Fantastic photos, Daniel! I love the processing on the last one, fingerprints and all.
I’m glad you came along. It was great meeting you.
Thanks again for putting it all together. Your work is impressive and it would be fun to do another similar outing together.
