After all these photographs of concrete, brick, and steel, here is an image of a different kind to prove that, yes, I recognize that human beans actually do live, work, and play in the Big Apple. Perhaps, in a future post, I’ll present a few more!
A few of the things I like about this picture…
…the way he is dressed, his haircut, his shoes, his watch–all implying good high fashion taste.
…his posture and the implied line of the direction of his glance. Waiting for his appointment?
…the perfect match of the previously mentioned implied line and the actual line in the brick.
…the luxury implied by the doorway.
…the shirts and jackets hanging from the car’s “work space”. Awaiting the customer?
…the New York traffic utility of the car’s mini size.
…the name of the business and the modern-but-elegant logo.
…the small piece of bicycle wheel extending into the frame on the right side, implying “less fashionable” modes of New York transportation.
…the heavy, solid, wall and the iron bar-covered window–perhaps implying the separation between the world of luxury and the world of the street.
…and, finally, the tuxedo-attired torso either affixed upon, or simply sitting upon, the mobile workshop–which is what caught my eye in the first place.
