This iconic landmark, W Barcelona (Hotel Vela) on the Barcelona seafront was actually a bit controversial when proposed and built. Some say rules were broken to build the structure so close to the sea–for example, it sits only 20 meters from the water when the law says a minimum of 100 meters is required.
All that said, it has become the postcard posterboy of Barcelona’s beachfront.
And, it’s not a bad place for the photographer to play with light, reflections, sky, seagulls, and angles.
