Yesterday, twenty inches of the white stuff fell up in Nederland, they say. At Arapahoe Basin, the last to keep their lifts running, there was a big crowd enjoying the slopes (80-inch base yet–see below). Strange to hear the “boom!” of the ski patrol’s avalanche cannon in mid-May.
In the town of Boulder, we were right at the snow line, so we had maybe an inch or two of sloppy wet stuff that is well gone today.
It still looks like winter up in the high mountains, though. This stuff will take time to melt and here’s hoping it happens slowly–no need for more floods around here!
