With all the negativism (the “nattering nabobs of negativism” are still at it) and vomity vitriolic rhetoric flying about society and the airwaves like scythes these wonderful days, it is nice to see someone do some public art to promote a little “buena honda” and peaceful introspection amongst unsuspecting passersby.
Lets hear it for BraveBots and JoyBots!
Yes, you’ll come upon this colorful, robotic, mural on the corner of Arapahoe and 13th Street in downtown Boulder. That’s just a few steps away from the famous Dushanbe Tea House and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.
The artist is Gary Hirsch and you’ll find plenty of info about him, his philosophy, and his projects at his website, botjoy.com. For example, he just recently completed a similar mural project in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. See the link–it is a touching story.
If you ever plan on walking by and admiring his Boulder wall art, I suggest checking out his website, as well as his video link below. Knowing something of the rest o’ the story will make your first face-to-face encounter with these alien but heart-warming creatures a bot notch richer.
