My father helped design the uranium mill and mine, & we were 1 of the first families to move into new housing. I was 15, and my first job was at Curly’s Cafe. There was a mercantile and gas station. And of course a bar. We moved to Denver that September but I always thought the name should have never been changed. Sad to hear it grew bigger with lots of amenities to fall into a ghost town. 😢
Thanks for visiting and also for your comment, Elizabeth. I’m always interested in the very human stories behind the places I visit and photograph. There are also a number of comments on another of my blog posts about this place (and perhaps you may know some of these folks?): https://www.danieljoderphotography.com/home-on-the-range-wyoming-aka-jeffrey-city/
